“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”
-Edward Pola & George Wyle
During the course of the next couple of weeks, we will all witness the transformation of our Main Streets from the ordinary of everyday to the splendor of the Season. Trees will be lit, lights will be strung, wreaths will be hung, and our towns will suddenly appear softer and more beautiful.
Each of the unique small towns that make up our Tri-State region of Northwest Corner, CT, Dutchess County, NY and the MA Southern Berkshires, of course has its own traditions, making this an especially beautiful time to get out and see all that the different towns have to offer.
On November 20th, for example, the Main Streets of Lakeville and Salisbury, CT will be lined with volunteers of the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce Adopt-a-Tree program, for which businesses and families can sponsor lighted trees. Elyse Harney Real Estate is proud to participate in this annual program.
The Friday after Thanksgiving, Millerton, NY comes together for a town-wide celebration that starts with a free family-friendly movie at The Moviehouse, offers a full day of activities, and concludes with a spectacular parade of lights.
These are but two of a multitude of events that will fill calendars for weekends to come between now and the end of the year. For a comprehensive listing of all such events, including parades of light, tree lightings, Holiday fairs and more, see the Compass section of The Lakeville Journal and The Millerton News.
