“If the grandeur of the Falls Village Inn, underscored by its whitewashed siding, dark shutters and expansive wraparound porch, initially raises dinner expectations to the stratosphere, parlor tables dressed with brown butcher-paper, paper napkins and baskets of commercial flatbread and foil-wrapped butter bring those hopes back to earth. The one-page menu, too, replete with burgers, fish and chips, mac and cheese, and two preparations of chicken, seems notably modest. Modesty can be a virtue, however…”
