rlem Valley Rail Trail features two sections totaling 15 paved miles through stunning rural Dutchess and Columbia County landscapes. Since the mid-1980’s, the Harlem Valley Rail Trail Association has dreamed of a 46-mile rail trail in the Harlem Valley and Taconic Hills of eastern New York. The first segment of the trail opened in 1996. Since then, the trail has grown in 1997, 2000, and 2005. Another 13 miles of abandoned rail bed are in different development stages, and most of another 18 miles have been acquired to take the Trail north into the Village of Chatham.
It goes without saying that we are huge fans of Harney & Sons Fine Teas. Situated right in the center of town, the cafe and tea shop is a fabulous place to sample a vast selection of teas, browse unique gifts and tea accessories or relax in the cafe while enjoying the exceptional cuisine.
The MovieHouse in Millerton, NY offers all of the most recently released movies in its quaint theatre that serves our entire tri-state region. A relatively new, but much needed and thoroughly embraced, addition to the Millerton community – Avacado Cafe is the “go to” for Mexican Food in the Millerton area. A traditional menu accented by unique options for added flair and a BYOB atmosphere have made Avacado Cafe an instant local sensation. 
The Music Cellar dubs themselves as, “A space in downtown Millerton, NY dedicated to the propagation of musical abilities for a joyous populous!” True to its hipster biography, The Music Cellar, located alongside the bike path (and also offering bike rentals), is the place to be for aspiring and seasoned musicians alike. Knowledgeable musician-teachers, flexible scheduling and a relaxing vibe – just plain awesome!
