Our lives are rooted in land and other natural resources. They give us beauty, nature, food, health and connections to our collective past and future. When something gives you such special and sustaining gifts, it’s important to provide it care and nurturing support.
The Harney family is proud to partner with the regional land preservation and environmental group Scenic Hudson, www.scenichudson.org. We first engaged with Scenic Hudson in defeating a massive, coal-fired cement plant that would have spewed air pollution over the Hudson Valley, northwestern Connecticut and the Berkshires. We also support the group’s efforts to preserve working farms, including those in Dutchess and Columbia counties, across the border from Connecticut and the Berkshires. Scenic Hudson always seeks the environmental and economic win-win.
A great way to experience Scenic Hudson’s work is by visiting the network of parks it has created spanning both shores of the Hudson River. You’ll find more than 6,000 acres of outdoor fun—opportunities to explore nature, admire breathtaking views, launch a kayak and learn about local history. The website will give you everything you need to plan an outing. It also showcases advocacy campaigns that benefit the tristate region.
