October is a glorious time of year to get outside for some wholesome fun. As our children get settled into the school routine, the weekends are a time to celebrate, decompress, and revel in recreation. The Tri-state region here at the border of Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts is abundant with places to go and things to do to enjoy the season. This week we offer a handful of ideas to inspire you as we all head into this peak autumn weekend. It is promising that the weather will bring the brilliantly vibrant combination of orange and red leaves next to the blue sky. So we encourage you and the family to hop in the car and take in the scenery as you make your way toward some seasonal fun.
Find your way through a corn maze!
Or a Maize Maze as they say in England!
The corn maze is an old autumn tradition that makes for great family memories as you experience the excitement of in this game of getting lost and finding your way to the end! If you are in Litchfield County, Ellsworth Farm in Sharon, CT has your closest maze. In the Berkshires, you can find your way through the maze at Taft Farms. In the Hudson Valley, there is a corn maze among all the things to do at the Kesicke Fall Festival.
Pick and decorate your own pumpkins!
It's Jack-o-Lantern Time!
The harvest is in, and it’s time to have some fun with it! Pick your perfect pumpkin, take them home, and carve them up or paint on a face. What fun it is to drive around the community to see all those who are participating in the fun with their appropriately terrifying decor! Angevine Farm in Warren, CT will be offering pumpkin painting on Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm.
