Come and support area students as they share their talents in the 38th annual Student Open Recital on February 24, 2019 at the Salisbury Congregational Church, 3 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
Every year area teachers, from both public and private schools as well as private practices, are invited to choose a student or group of students who best demonstrate technique, musicality, and promise at his/her/their particular level.
This year will feature 23 performers from 7 different schools. This Recital spans the gamut from classical to jazz. You will hear performances from trumpet to piano, to string/piano duos to the Salisbury School Classical Ensemble and the Salisbury School Jazz Ensemble. Music is a life time sport that continues throughout one’s life to be passed down to the next generation. We are pleased to have a former participant, Rachel Migliacci Matsudaira, accompany her daughter, Melody, the third of her children to perform in the Recital.
Sarah Dessen says it perfectly. “Music is the great uniter. An incredible force. Something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common.”
Know that music education in our area is alive and well, continuing the goal of expanding our children's creative expressions alone or with others. Do come!
The Recital is sponsored by the Special Music Fund of the Salisbury Congregational Church. All donations are welcomed to keep music accessible and alive in our community.
