Mark’s affiliation with the Harney’s began when he was studying Hotel and Resort management in college and working summers for Elyse and her husband John at the White Hart Inn. He served with the USAF in California and Alaska as a club manager going on to work at the Concord Resort, Holiday Inns in New York, Washington DC and Virginia before returning home to manage the Country Club of Torrington in Goshen, Ct. Obtaining his private pilots license while in Alaska he continued his interest in flying and received his commercial, instrument and multi-engine ratings through the Great Barrington Airport. In 1979 he purchased the Old Riverton Inn, shortly after marrying his wife Pauline, a native of Salisbury They operated it together for 40 years, selling it in 2019. Mark has served 3 years on the Barkhamsted planning and zoning commission, 10 years with the Riverton Vol. Fire Dept, is a Justice of the Peace and has been a licensed agent since 2001.
